Huawei Ascend Y300 was probably the Huawei’s best selling phone before Ascend P6 and Honor 3C. As a result of Ascend Y300’s popularity, there is a prominent developer community behind it. Most of the Ascend Y300’s custom development never sees light on English language developer sites like XDA because most of the Y300’s custom developments are happening in European and Russian online communities. However if you know where to look for, you could find interesting new developments such as this Android 5.0 Lolipop custom ROM for Ascend Y300/G510.
This Y300 custom ROM is a port of “Slim ROM” SlimLP Alpha 1.0 release and the developer “Chil360″ on Modaco forum’s has managed to iron out many bugs during the development but there are several other bugs are present such as FM Radio and Hardware codecs not working when playing back videos. WiFI is also reported to be bit unstable at the moment of writing.
SlimLP Alpha 1.0 for Ascend Y300 comes with stock Android 5.0.2 bundled with the new additions from SlimLP such as Privacy Guard which you can use to individually switch permissions of apps.
This custom ROM might not be suitable as a daily driver for some people but its better to try it out and choose yourself before deciding.
