Make Your Pixel's Screen Up to 20% Brighter| for sock rom go to rompure.com

The Pixel XL reportedly uses the same exact display panel as the Galaxy S7 Edge, but according to third-party testing, Samsung's flagship gets at least ten percent brighter than Google's. The same can be said of the regular Pixel, which tops out just shy of its bigger brother's brightness rating.
With the same hardware, it doesn't make much sense that the Pixel's screen wouldn't get just as bright. It's possible that Google is artificially limiting the brightness for the sake of battery life, as they've reportedly underclocked the processor for similar reasons. We reached out to Google for clarification on the matter, but have yet to receive a response.
Regardless of the reason for the Pixel's not-so-bright screen, developer Flar2 has a solution to the problem. By flashing his ElementalX kernel, then installing a simple app for $0.99, you can enable a "High Brightness Mode" on your Pixel or Pixel XL to make the screen up to 20% brighter in one tap.

Requirements

  • rooted Pixel or Pixel XL
  • ElementalX kernel installed

Install High Brightness Mode Widget

As long as you've already installed the ElementalX kernel on your Pixel or Pixel XL, the first thing you'll need to do here is install an app called High Brightness Mode Widget:

Add the Widget to Your Home Screen

Next, simply add the High Brightness Mode widget to your home screen, then within a few seconds, the app should ask for root access, so tap "Grant" on the popup.

Make Your Screen 20% Brighter in One Tap

With the widget added to your home screen, you can just tap it at any time, and your screen's brightness will instantly increase by about twenty percent. Then, if you're worried about losing the extra battery, you can tap it again to toggle High Brightness Mode off, and everything will go back to normal.

From there, if you double-tap the widget, you'll enter "Automatic Mode." This will keep your screen brightness stock for the most part, but when you're outside in full sunlight, High Brightness Mode will automatically kick in to make things easier to see. Then, when you go back inside, HBR will turn back off, so it's a great way to manage your screen brightness.

Add a Google Photos Shortcut to Your Android's Camera App| for sock rom go to rompure.com

If your Android phone was made by Samsung, LG, HTC, or any other manufacturer that likes to apply skins on top of stock Android, then your camera app is tied to the custom gallery app that was preinstalled on your device. In other words, when you tap that little image preview icon after taking a picture, you'll be taken to a camera roll interface that was made by an electronics manufacturer.
And let's face it, smartphone manufacturers are good at making hardware, but they're terrible at creating software. This is why it would be nice to be able to replace the camera roll shortcut with one that links to an image-editing app made by a real software company.
Well, thanks to a recent update to the Google Photos app, this is finally possible. By enabling a single setting, then adjusting the interface a bit, you'll be able to replace your camera roll button with one that links directly to Google Photos, an app created by one of the best software developers on the planet.

Install or Update Google Photos

First up, you'll need to make sure you're running the latest version of Google Photos. To do that, simply install or update the app from the following link.

Enable the Google Photos Camera Shortcut

From here, open Google Photos, then head to the "Settings" entry in the side navigation menu. From here, enable the switch next to the "Camera shortcut" option. Then, if you're running Android Marshmallow or higher, tap "Allow" when prompted to give the app an additional permission.

Access Google Photos Directly from Your Camera App

The next time you take a picture with your stock camera app, a small square will appear over your viewfinder—this is the Google Photos shortcut. By default, it will be in a seemingly random spot on your screen, but this is easily fixable. Just long-press the shortcut, then drag it to a better location—for instance, right on top of your camera app's existing camera roll button.

Once you've done that, you'll be able to quickly access Google Photos after taking any picture. Just tap the shortcut, then you'll be taken to Google Photos' editing interface, complete with a button that lets you cast your picture to any Chromecast-compatible device. From there, you can even tap the album icon near the top-right corner to view your entire Google Photos library.

Get a Boot Animation That Shows Donald Trump Flipping Off the Whole World| for sock rom go to rompure.com

There are two things you're not supposed to talk about in a social setting: religion and politics. When it comes to the latter, though, a certain orange-hued reality TV star has made it all but impossible to stay mum about the goings-on in DC.
For a minimum of four years, we'll all be talking about Donald Trump for one reason or another. As developer CZ Eddie put it, "I think everyone loves to hate Trump just a little, even Republicans like myself. He invites the hate, don't you think?"
CZ Eddie took this lighthearted approach to politics, and applied it to a whimsical GIF he found on Bhoot that depicts the Donald walking atop the globe while giving everyone the bird. As a result of his work, you can now make a very tongue-in-cheek political statement every time you restart your Android device.

Requirements

  • rooted Android device
  • root-enabled file browser

Download the Boot Animation

If you're bold enough to try this one out, start by downloading the Donald Trump boot animation at the following link.

Rename Your Old Boot Animation File

Next, open your favorite root-enabled file browser and navigate to the /system/mediafolder. From here, long-press your existing bootanimation.zip file, then choose "Rename" from the context menu. After that, simply add a ".bak" to the end of the file name.

Note that some Samsung phones will not have a bootanimation.zip file in this folder. If this is the case, the device is not compatible with this mod.

Copy the New Boot Animation & Set Permissions

Head to the Download folder on your SD card or internal storage, then copy the new bootanimation.zip file that you downloaded from Step 1. After that, head back to the /system/app folder, then paste the new boot animation file in this directory.

Next, long-press the newly-copied bootanimation.zip file, then choose "Permissions" from the context menu. From here, make sure that the Owner category is set to "Read/Write," while all other categories are set to just "Read." Once you're done there, you'll be ready to check out the new animation.

Reboot & Have a Laugh

From now on, whenever you restart your phone, you'll be greeted by Mr. Trump as he boisterously bumbles about the globe, flipping off any and everybody beneath him. It's a fun little animation that surely won't be representative of things to come, right?

                                                   Your lovely new boot animation.

Keep in mind that the developer created this mod just for laughs. In fact, the "CZ" in CZ Eddie stands for "Canal Zone" in reference to the Republic of Panama where he was born, so he's a neutral observer in a way. In other words, there's nothing mean-spirited going on here, so try to keep the discussion lighthearted in the comment section below.
