2016 Holiday Season Spending: Consumer Insights :American consumers plan to spend an average $935.58 during the 2016 holiday shopping season this year, according to NRF’s survey conducted by Prosper Insights. Nearly six in 10 plan to buy for themselves, spending an average $139.61, up by 4 % from last year and marking the second-highest level of personal spending in the survey’s 13-year history.Meanwhile holiday sales (offline and online combined are expected to increase by 3.6% and is above the 7 year old high since the holiday spending recovery began since 2009(National Retail Federation)
Meanwhile Holiday specific employment is also expected to increase to 690,000 new positions.This is in comparison to 2015 ,675,300 positions and that share will expand to just over 70% of the $126million shipments by 2019. |
